01 · EVANGELICAL

福音派

Evangelical

Evangelicalism usually stresses conversion, biblical authority, salvation, and evangelism, but it is not one church. Baptist, Pentecostal, nondenominational, and other communities may fall within it, with major racial and political differences.

02 · MAINLINE

Mainline Protestant

Methodist, Episcopal, Presbyterian, some Lutheran, and United Church traditions are often categorized as mainline. The label reflects institutional history, not present-day numerical dominance.

03 · CATHOLIC

天主教

Catholic

Mass, sacraments, parish schools, and church structure provide a shared frame, while Irish, Italian, Polish, Mexican, Puerto Rican, Filipino, Vietnamese, and other histories create distinct local experiences.

04 · BLACK CHURCH

Black church

“Black church” covers multiple denominations and local traditions. Churches have supported worship, education, mutual aid, business networks, organizing, and civil rights; preaching and gospel deeply shaped U.S. music and public speech.
